Inverse probability of treatment weighting was applied to compare control subjects with patients diagnosed with ASD, based on International Classification of Diseases-9/10 codes, incorporating factors like surgical category/duration, age, sex, race and ethnicity, anesthesia location, American Society of Anesthesiology physical status, intraoperative opioid dose, and intraoperative dexmedetomidine dose. For the study, 335 children diagnosed with ASD were paired with a control group of 11,551 children without ASD. Glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) play a crucial role in preserving the structural integrity of bone tissue, orchestrating collagen production, and regulating the mineralization process within the extracellular matrix.
